New Football Schedule, New Challenges
A District Realignment has Bowie up against Power Aledo
New Schedule, New Teams, and New Tactics
When a football season starts, players, (especially juniors and seniors, know what to expect. Opposing teams such as Sam Houston, Lamar, Martin, and Arlington are schools that we have played against a lot in the past. But next school year is changing the game plan.
The Bowie football schedule for 2026 has just been released, starting from August 20th to Nov 5th. Bringing a total of five new teams in the mix such as Richardson, Prosper Rock Hill, Grandbury, Aledo, and Weatherford.
One of the teams, Aledo, is already making headlines because they are considered to be a powerhouse, having won 12 straight championships. Making students wonder, “Will the new teams be challenging for Bowie?”
“It’s both good and bad,” junior quarterback Mason Nichols said of the new schedule. “It’s good because you get a fresh start but bad because we don’t know what they have.” Nichols was the backup QB to Jalen Bibbs this season and is expected to be the team’s starting quarterback.
“We’re still gonna have to plan for some things,” Nichols stated. “But even when we get there things might change.”
Bowie will have plenty of time to prepare and train for the new and returning opponents.
