I love flag football.
It’s not just a hobby. It’s a passion.
I first joined flag football my sophomore year as it was the first year it came to our district. We were a really good team and everyone was really talented. We then learned that we could get college offers from it, so everyone started taking it more seriously.
We ended up going into the second round of district playoffs that year and learned a lot from it. I have put in more work into flag football because I have realized that I can get a scholarship from it. So I started to practice with my brother before the season even started. I really look up to him because he went to college for football and was a very good player.
I have always been a fan of football. So when I found out I could get a chance to play as a girl I immediately saw the opportunity. I am a wide receiver on offense and a linebacker on defense. So I start on each side. Our coach from last year left to go to a different school so we have a new coach, Coach Kitchen, and he is a great coach.
We want to go to state, so we have been practicing like crazy and we are aiming to win every game. We started the season off with two tournaments and a combine with a professional women’s football team. And just last weekend, we started our first district games. We practice four days a week for an hour and a half, going through offensive and defensive skills. I really enjoy playing with my new team because we all want the same thing: a chance to go to state.
