The year’s final blood drive, hosted by HOSA, exceeded the goal by collecting 57 units of blood, surpassing last year’s tally of 50 units. Principles of Health Science teacher Cecilia Hernandez said 40 percent of donors were first-time participants during the drive, which was April 28 in the auditorium.
In addition, they were able to raise $2,500 in scholarship funds that go directly to HOSA students—$1,000 more than last year.
“We just want to thank you for supporting our final blood drive held,” Hernandez said in an email to staff. “We appreciate your flexibility in allowing students to participate, especially given the disruption on a testing day. Thank you for your understanding. Your support played a key role in making this life-saving effort possible.”
