The first round of the Texas 6A Division 2 playoffs didn’t turn out the way the Vols expected. They fell to the Richardson Berker Rams, 30-28.
The Vols’ put up a good fight. Berkner’s 3-star athlete was all over the field ending the game with one interception, thjree pass break ups, and nine total tackles, while also passing 14/23 with 195 yards.
Wide receiver Ty Crethers was also a standout player in the game, catching five passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns.Together they led Berkner to their first playoff win in 19 years.
Although the Vols’ lost the game they had some impressive feats as well. Outside linebacker Bryson Castille gave Bowie hope early in the first quarter by intercepting a pass to put the offense in the redzone.
Quarterback Jayden Bibbs was 17/37 with 187 passing yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 53 yards and another two touchdowns.
Running back Denzel Ponder caught four passes for 60 yards and also rushed for 31 yards on 11 carries.
